Welcome to Year 1/2!
We hope this half term will be full of exciting new learning and everyone is ready for some hard work and fun!

Class information:
This Spring term our topics are going to be:
- History - Learning to Fly (The Wright Brothers).
- RE - Books and Thanksgiving.
- Science - Living Things: Habitats.
- Maths - Money and multiplication and division.
- Computing - Programming.
- PSHE - Personal Relationships.
- English - Taditional tales with a twist, Instructions and Classical poetry.
Our PE days are Wednesday and Friday:
- Children should leave their PE kits at school.
- your childs PE kit consists of: A plain white t-shirt, black shorts and PE pumps. Please can you ensure your childs PE kit is clearly labelled.
- Earings should be removed for health and safelty reasons.
- Homework is going to be sent home on a Friday, to be returned on a Wednesday.
- Children who return their complete homework each week can earn extra merits and dojos.
A few reminders:
Please try to read with your children every night; it will allow them to access the full curriculum easier, with more confidence and fluency.
On average, children should be aiming to read 90 words per minute, fluently.
Please practice counting in 2's, 5's and 10's with your child, along with column addition and subtraction.
You can support your child at home further by helping them to explore TT rockstars and learning their times tables for fluency and accuarcy.
Please remember to sign your child's reading record each time you have listened to them read.
