Year 3/4 2025 - 2026
Ms Anderson
A little bit about us:
Hello I am Ms Anderson, Year 3/4 teacher here at St Mary’s. I am looking forward to working with you this year, watching you make huge progress and gain confidence on your learning journey.
I am eager to see you all become more creative, enthusiastic about your learning- achieving high standards in reading, writing and maths. I can't wait to get know all about you all!
I am a mum to four children. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, going out for long walks and listening to music.
We are very lucky that we have a number of adults working in Year 3/4. We have Mrs Rose, Mrs Marshall and Miss Mac. We have got lots of lovely activities planned to help our pupils grow in confidence and mindset this year.
Class information: Please see our class overview for Autumn 1 for what topics we will be covering this half term.
Our PE days are Tuesday and Thursday:
- Children should leave their PE kits at school.
- your child’s PE kit consists of: A plain white t-shirt, black shorts and PE pumps. Please can you ensure your child’s PE kit is clearly labelled.
- Earrings should be removed for health and safety reasons.
- Homework is going to be sent home on a Wednesday, to be returned on a Monday .
- Children who return their complete homework each week can earn extra merits and dojos.
A few reminders:
Please try to read with your children every night; it will allow them to access the full curriculum easier, with more confidence and fluency.
On average, children should be aiming to read 90 words per minute, fluently.
You can support your child at home further by helping them to explore TT Rockstars and learning their times tables for fluency and accuracy.
Please remember to sign your child's reading record each time you have listened to them read. We read and change books daily. We follow a programme called Accelerated Readers, where your child will complete a quiz each time they read a book before they can change this for a new book. Reading is such a crucial skill and research suggests that competence in reading helps children with their spellings and become more creative with their writing as they are exposed to a wider range of vocabulary.
